Educational Qualifications
Lt Colonel Jayavel (Retired) is the third-generation army person, who was born and brought up from coimbatore.
He comes from a family of warriors. His grandfather served our country in the First World War, his father served in the Second World War.
He is an alumnus of Sainik school Amaravathi Nagar and had the opportunity to serve in the army in counter insurgency areas like Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram and Kashmir.
Lt COL Jayavel passed out of Indian Military Academy (IMA) and joined 1st Dogra regiment and later move to the 16th Battalion of the Mechanised infantry. He has served the country for 24 years and was the second in command for 4 years. He has held few staff appointments such as Company Commander, Staff captain and was posted as an instructor in the Mechanised Infantry Regimental Centre, Ahmednagar.
He has undertaken a tedious 1400km route march known as Manipur Parikarama, which was aimed at bringing good will in the border areas. Thus he has covered entire India Burma border in just 42 days for which he was awarded the commendation letter.
During Kashmir insurgency he along with his unit was instrumental in annihilating 11 Paksitan militants and capturing a few in ANANDANAG and BUDGAM AREA during 1998-2000 insurgency operations.
He took voluntary retirement from the army in the year 2000 and as a gesture of giving back to the society, along with few associates started Kovai Defence Academy that offers pre-selection training to aspirants from the age of 9 to 26, which encourages the aspirants to join Sainik school, Military school, Rashtriya Indian Military College, National Defence Academy, Service Selection Board, AFCAT, CDSC etc.,
The Officer was commissioned into Indian Navy on 05 Jul 2010 as a Short Service Officer. He Completed his initial Orientation Training at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kannur.
After completion of rigorous training on both theoretical and Practical classes he was awarded with most coveted Golden Wings (Observer) on at Observer School at Kochi. He Stood First in his Course in Flying Subject and did equally well in theoretical subjects as well.
He then served in various flying squadrons and clocked about 1500 Hrs of flying onboard Naval Dornier. He was a part of Co-ordinated Maritime exercises with foreign navies such as Maldives, Thailand and Indonesia.
He also participated in Naval Shooting Championship and received Silver Medal and Overall best in Young Officers Match. He Completed his Group Testing Officer Course in 2019 and served at various Services Selection Boards.
He had assessed around 5000 Candidates and played a major role in selecting the suitable and potential candidate for becoming as Officers in Indian Armed forces. He is capable of training young aspirants to join armed forces.
He has a keen eye for detail and he is an expert in handling problems in a methodical way and achieve results practically. He is also a keen in playing outdoor sports such as football, badminton, X country and Table tennis. In addition he is an avid reader and motivational speaker.
